Memorial Planting Program

Honor a loved one, replant history.

All memorial donations will now fund an annual tree planting at one of Savannah’s historic cemeteries.

Savannah Tree Foundation has partnered with the City of Savannah’s Cemeteries Division to replant our historic cemeteries. Cemeteries are an important source of tree canopy and species diversity in our urban forest. However, our cemeteries are losing trees to age, disease, and storm damage. STF is working to combat that loss by replanting the historic tree canopy of these hallowed sites.Â

Each year, STF and the City will choose one planting location from the six municipal cemeteries: Colonial Park, Laurel Grove North, Laurel Grove South, Bonaventure, Greenwich, and Evergreen. Memorial donations from the year will be pooled to fund a tree planting at that location each All Saints’ Weekend in November.

While we are unable to designate a specific tree for an individual, family and friends are welcome to join STF at the annual planting to honor their loved one.Â
